Running The Bear? Here's what you need to know:

  • You must be able to complete the 5K within 45 minutes

  • Once you complete the 5K, wait for the official start of the 10K race.

  • You'll get one medal after you finish both events. Don't take a medal at the end of the 5K. It'll just slow you down.

  • Please choose "The Bear" category at registration instead of registering for the 5K and 10K separately. This way, you'll be scored properly and save money.

Parking: Complimentary parking will be available in several different lots near the Irsay Family YMCA at CityWay. View the parking map here.

You may also park along city streets. Most of these spots are metered, and parking is not free on Saturdays.

The Irsay Family YMCA at CityWay's lot (directly south of their building) is priced by the hour. Parking validation is not available.

Course Information: Visit the maps page for maps of both courses. Polar Bear utilizes typical city streets in and around downtown Indianapolis. The course will be well-marked and supported by volunteers and local public safety.

Weather Policy:

Polar Bears love snow! This race is a "rain or shine" event. Participants are encouraged to use common sense, adjusting for the conditions.

That said, we want to have a safe event for both our participants and volunteers. If conditions warrant, a delay or cancellation may be necessary. In the unfortunate event of a cancellation, refunds will not be issued.
